What is urolith?  
Urolithin is a class of polyphenolic compounds, whose precursors mainly come from pomegranates, nuts, and berries. When the human body ingests food containing tannic acid, specific gut microbiota will convert tannic acid into urolithin. Common types include urolithin A, urolithin B, urolithin C, and urolithin D, with urolithin A being the most extensively studied.

Urolithin A can activate autophagy through PINK1/Parkin dependent and PINK1/Parkin independent pathways.
